"I have almost 20 years of experience tutoring and teaching both one-on-one as well as in classroom or workshop settings. I have experience with all age groups (elementary through adult) and a variety of subjects, including visual arts, ESL, English analysis/composition, reading/writing, a number of foreign languages, and basic math and science. I am a native speaker of Japanese (raised in America, attended university in Japan). I have studied a variety of other languages (Turkish, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Korean) and am fluent in French and German. As a linguistics student, I have a strong grasp of the English language as well, both from a technical/scientific point of view and a more organic, cultural/communicative side. I specialize in helping beginners thru intermediates obtain a confident and broad grasp of Japanese, German, and French with an in depth focus on grammatical structure and natural language use.

I am a proud graduate of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools (where I also first began my tutoring experiences.) I received my BA in Linguistics and Literature from the International Christian University in Tokyo, and my MFA from the New York Academy of Art in Drawing and Printmaking.
