Hi! My name is Jay and I'm a Composer/ Performer living in central North Carolina, USA. I completed my bachelors in music composition and classical guitar performance at East Carolina University and I completed my master's in music composition and creative music practice at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

Whether you're a complete beginner who want's to learn what it's like to create your own works of music, or an intermediary student who wants to develop their craft, or even a seasoned musician who wants some guidance in an area they're not super familiar with, I'm here to help. I've worked with everyone from fourth graders to college age students, to retirees, so there are no age limits.

My work has brought me to many areas of music so I'm happy to guide you on developing your craft from the early stages of idea creation and development, to orchestration, to organizing performances, and navigating the tricky balance of fulfilling your artistic vision and helping you or your performers recreate your work accurately. The size of your composition is not an issue either. I've worked on solo pieces, small and large chamber ensembles, orchestra pieces, and even multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary compositions. I also have experience with working with songwriters, electronic music, and music production. Music theory is also an area I can certainly guide students in, with score analysis being one of my specialties, but I'm quite capable and happy to start all the way from the ground up." less...
