"Currently, I am a Kindergarten teacher in Wisconsin. My goal as a teacher is to make sure that children enjoy learning because learning should be fun. I relish in the moments when a child’s face lights up from excitement when they learn something new. This gives them such a sense of joy and accomplishment. I strive to help students to make these connections with learning every day. I understand that children all come from different background and every single one of them has a different learning style. In the classroom, I strive to create learning experiences that fit these learning styles for each child.
I am common core math trained; however, I do emphasis that there are more than one way of solving math problems. I think students need a balance of common core math and other ways of solving math problems. I would work with the students to feel confident in solving math problems. For younger learners, I make sure that math is engaging and hands on as much as possible.
I am common core reading trained and continue to better my education in the reading field by going to training, listening to pod casts, observing fellow teachers, and reading articles. Currently, as a Kindergarten teacher I work with students who are just learning their letter sounds, blending sounds into words and many foundational reading skills. For younger learners, I really like to take the hands on approach as much as possible to make learning fun for them.
As previously stated above in my reading qualifications, I currently use many phonics tools within my classroom. Some of these tools consist of auditory programs like Heggerty and Kilpatrick, and others are hands on learning tools for students to help them become better readers.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!" less...
