"My name is Ronald, but I prefer Ronnie. I became interested in the profession of teaching during my elementary school years. My elementary teacher was my inspiration for teaching. My entire teaching experience has been at the collegiate level. My first job was teaching students who needed support in basic academics. For 13 years, I taught remedial and developmental English. My expertise and passion were in the area of composition. I enjoyed helping students compose writings, as well as helping them to perfect their work. In fact, often times I would develop strategies to simplify instruction for students who needed additional clarification of understanding.

My Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction benefited me most in teaching at-risk students. I was able to help them feel more confident in evolving as writers. Even today, many of my graduates remind me of the contributions I made in their pursuit to complete their academic programs. My desire for my students is that they are able to achieve their maximum potential in whatever they pursue.

My expertise is in teaching students sentence structure and essay development. I had on the average 150 students per semester over a 13 year period. I allowed students to make multiple drafts of their paper with my editorial comments in order to perfect it, whereas many teachers simply give students a first and final draft. Some of my students I taught and mentored have even become published writers. These efforts are a demonstration of my desire for their successes.
