"I am a Brown University undergraduate studying Applied Mathematics-Computer Science. I have experience tutoring students across a wide range of ages and backgrounds, including middle school math prep, elementary after-school mentoring, and working with first-generation refugee students in reading, writing, and arithmetic. I have also volunteered in adult learning settings that require adapting to individual needs and inhibiting disabilities. Across these experiences, my priority has been helping students feel supported rather than judged. Currently, I am a member of the National Tutoring Association, having additionally completed the training for a basic level certification. I have also completed training on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Child Development, and various learning disabilities.

I am deeply committed to working with students who feel discouraged, frustrated, or disengaged from math. My interest in tutoring comes from personal experience. Growing up, my dad put me “through the wringer” with Beast Academy math, and I have very vivid memories of being overwhelmed, stuck, and especially frustrated when I couldn’t clearly show my work or explain my thinking. Those experiences stayed with me, and they are a big reason I care so much about helping students who feel like math just doesn’t click for them yet. Because I remember what that frustration feels like, I bring a calm, patient, and empathetic approach to tutoring. I am relaxed in my teaching style but persistent in helping students work through challenges instead of giving up. I focus on helping students slow down, organize their thoughts, and communicate their reasoning clearly, because I know firsthand how stressful it can feel when you understand something intuitively but struggle to put it on paper. My goal is not just to get students to the right answer, but to help them feel more confident, capable, and resilient when facing difficult problems." less...
