"Hi, my name is Daniel P. I specialize in tutoring physics, mathematics, astronomy, aerospace concepts, US history, and general science.
I have a bachelor’s in physics from Florida International University (FIU), with minors in computer science mathematical science and astronomy, and a masters in space systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University (JHU). I have a deep passion for learning and I am deeply interested in anything space, technical, or how the universe/world works.
I have four years of previous tutoring experience, which includes working for the Student Success and Support Center at Florida Institute of technology (FIT), as an adjunct lecture at FIU, as a volunteer tuner at MDC homestead stem lab, and as a private tutor. The subjects I have tutored during these positions have been physics, and optics; I was also recommended by name to tutor students on aerospace concepts during my time at FIT. My experience has allowed me to tutor college students and high school students taking advances courses. These tutoring sessions were either conducted by appointment, or via walk-ins to the tutoring center where I worked.
A tutoring session will usually start by me asking the tutee what they need help in, and specifics on their problem(s). If the problem is for a class I will often ask what is being covered in their classes currently and if they have any notes on the lectures. I do this to gage what the students know and may not know about the subject, trying to connect the tutoring session with what is being taught and class and not to used methods that require much more background knowledge then they might currently have. I then will walk through setting up and solving the problem, either with paper and pencil, marker and whiteboard, or an online tool if the session is virtual. Through out the lesson I will ask the tutee if they understand what is being done, and how they might continue to solve the problem, or solve similar problems." less...
