"Bonjour/Hola, I’m Agnès! I am new to the Wyzant community, but I am not a new teacher! I am a French native speaker, graduated with distinctions from the Sorbonne University in Paris. I have lived and worked in several countries: Venezuela, Scotland, Germany, and now the US. I have also traveled extensively throughout Spain and in South America. I am a passionate language learner. I speak four languages fluently, and I have tackled many more: Chinese, Persian, Russian, modern Greek, Latin, etc.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Germanistics Studies (linguistics and translation track) that has led me to various translation works, including books, mostly from German into French and Spanish into French.

I also hold two Master’s degrees from the Sorbonne University. One Master’s degree in World Language Teaching (Spanish track) and a second Master’s degree in Teaching French as a Foreign/Second Language. As a plurilingual myself, my Master’s thesis focused on plurilingualism, more precisely on the cognitive strategies students develop, and how teachers can help in the process to reach optimum procedural facilitation.

I have over 17+ years experience teaching French and Spanish to teenagers (middle/high school) and adults (higher education, Alliance Française) from complete beginners to advanced levels (level 1 to AP/IB, TCF prep), whether full classes in schools, private tuitions or online. I am aware that speaking is the final goal of most learners, however, reaching proper speaking skills first requires strong language structures (grammar). As a teacher and a learner myself, I do have strong and long experience with French/Spanish grammar.

I like using authentic documents in my classes for real-world language immersion. I can also introduce French/Spanish literature and history along with some art studies (painting) if the student is open to.
