"My name is Kat! My nursing career spans more than 20 years, beginning as a nurse aide/tech before transitioning to the bedside as an RN. I have worked in diverse critical care environments, starting in CVICU and later at a teaching hospital in a mixed ICU caring for surgical, medical, trauma, and cardiovascular patients. I now serve as a Trauma Coordinator at a Level I Trauma Center, where I coordinate care for trauma patients while continuing to mentor new nurses.
Alongside my clinical experience, I hold a Master’s in Nursing Education and spent five years as an Assistant Professor in a local ADN program, teaching both classroom theory and clinical practice. Teaching quickly became my passion. I developed a talent for simplifying complex nursing concepts into manageable pieces and often went beyond the classroom with tutoring, study groups, and workshops on study strategies and student success.
My approach to education is holistic. I work with students to identify barriers to learning and develop study methods that align with how their brain processes information. I also emphasize self-care, time management, and balance, encouraging healthy habits to support academic success. I’ve had the privilege of working with learners of all ages—from traditional college students to adults entering nursing later in life—and I value the unique strengths each student brings.
I look forward to continuing to support nursing students in building knowledge, confidence, and resilience as they prepare for their careers." less...
