I have had a passion for all things writing related from a very young age, and I find great joy in helping others become more confident in their writing abilities. I primarily help students with academic essays, specifically those in MLA and APA format, though I am also qualified to help students with creative writing. Regardless of format, writing can feel like an overwhelming process, so I want to help students achieve their writing goals step by step. When it comes to helping students draft their essays, I enjoy walking students through the brainstorming and outlining process by discussing their goals for the assignment and comparing those goals to the assignment guidelines. For help polishing their assignments, I like to first focus on bigger order concerns such as the thesis statement, development of ideas, and organization of ideas. Then, I like to focus on lower order concerns such as grammar and essay format. This method of tutoring ensures that students are receiving the most beneficial feedback no matter where they are in the writing process.

I have worked as a college writing tutor for the past five years and have conducted hundreds of tutoring sessions with students of various educational backgrounds. I’ve helped students enrolled in English 101 and have also helped students perfect their graduate dissertations. Though the majority of my tutoring sessions have been 1 to 1, I also have experience conducting group writing sessions. Regardless of session type, my favorite thing about tutoring is alleviating some of the stress that students feel when it comes to writing an essay.
