"Hi, I'm Kurt. I am a Statistical Physicist by academic training and Natural Language Processing (NLP) Data Scientist professionally. I hold the following academic qualifications: a Bachelor's degree with Honors from the University of Zimbabwe; a Master's degree in Statistical Physics from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY; and a Master's Degree in Data Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.

While at Clarkson University, I spent two years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. My main task was deconstructing physics concepts - in a fun and engaging way - freshman and sophomores learned in lectures, thus enhancing their understanding in ways not feasible in run-of-the-mill lectures. My teaching philosophy always involved introducing additional supplementary conceptual frameworks, posing a problem and through guided conversation that veered into American pop culture, solving aforementioned problem. I would then immediately pose two similar problems of varying complexity and ask my students to attempt to solve them before moving on to the next concept. This worked so well it culminated in my being awarded the American Association of Physics Teachers Graduate Teaching Assistant Award in 2009. I taught 2 classes with a total of 98 students.

In subsequent years I have moved more to tutoring junior colleagues in Corporate America, mainly in Data Science, NLP, Python and R. I have been using the same conceptual framework I used at Clarkson, as described above. I have mainly done this one-on-one. Though I have not tutored physics and calculus since my college days, I am chomping at the bits to do it again as I have experienced great success helping my nephew with his college test preps.
