"I received my Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University, where I studied math, journalism, and political science.
I have tutored students as young as 12 and as old as 50, in math, physics, and standardized test preparation. I have also written and reported for both local and national publications, and have worked for legislators in New York and Washington, D.C.
My math background includes more than 1,000 hours of tutoring experience, spanning algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. I worked for two years as a teaching assistant for Northwestern in their calculus sequence, where I graded assignments, proctored exams, led, a weekly discussion section, and held office hours. I was the champion of Connecticut College’s 2021 Integration Bee, a calculus tournament, and 2022 Math Olympiad, a proof-based tournament, and was the school's representative in the Putnam Competition.
As a TA and as a tutor, I have extensive experience in every aspect of the academic process across the fields that I teach. I know how courses progress, how exams are structured, and how work is graded.
My goal with any student is to empower you to build your own unique mental toolkit. We'll often work through an example together, and I’ll explain how I think about each step along the way. Then, once we’ve arrived at an answer, I’ll ask you to explain in your own words what we did and why we did it. That explanation becomes a written step-by-step blueprint to follow when you do the next problem.
I incorporate a variety of visual and interactive tools to keep students engaged, including a digital whiteboard that gives you permanent access to all our work, and I am always happy to send pointers and resources if you have questions between meetings.
Whether it's math, science, or testing, every problem is just a puzzle to be solved, and my goal as a tutor is to help you find your own way of solving puzzles, so that you won’t just get the right answer, but that you’ll actually be engaged and rewarded along the way." less...
