"Hi, I'm Michelle! I am a dedicated and compassionate educator with over fifteen years of experience working with young learners from preschool through sixth grade, training and coaching teachers, and supporting families. I have a strong background in both early childhood and elementary education, and a focus on social-emotional learning, I help children build confidence, emotional intelligence, and a love of learning. My approach is nurturing, individualized, and developmentally appropriate, making me a trusted partner for both students and parents.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Child Development from California State University, Fullerton, and a master's degree in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education and Special Needs from the University of Missouri, Columbia. I am currently completing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on just, equitable, and inclusive education from California State University, Fullerton.
I began my career in educational after-school care and academic tutoring for elementary students, focusing on building foundational skills and promoting positive social-emotional growth. While teaching both public and private preschool, I developed a deep understanding of early childhood development and early learning. In addition to working directly with children, I have trained and coached early childhood educators, helping them implement best practices in the classroom. I also have experience partnering closely with families, offering guidance, resources, and strategies to support learning and development at home.
My approach to tutoring is to build a strong rapport so that students feel confident in their ability to learn. When tutoring an academic area in need of improvement, I use a strengths-based approach and focus on building understanding and skill. I am available for one-on-one tutoring and small groups, both in person and online." less...
