"I'm Arvin! I received my Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of California Irvine, then completed a Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry from Baylor University. During my time as an undergraduate, I fell in love with Organic Chemistry and excelled in all courses related to the field! This led me to pursue research in synthetic organic chemistry during my undergraduate and graduate studies.

Prior to lessons, I prefer that students send me their homework, textbook info (or syllabus) and specific goals. This allows me to prepare an individualized lesson specific to each student. During lessons I use an iPad with Apple Pencil to collaborate on screen in real time. I can tutor on Wyzant or Zoom depending on your preference. My ultimate goal is to teach you how to better learn the subject on your own and for you to no longer need my services!

Over the last 13 years, I have gained experience tutoring students of all ages, but I have decided to focus 100% of my efforts on tutoring undergraduate organic chemistry. I have experience tutoring chemistry majors and non-majors (Pre-Med, Pre-Dental, etc.). During my time in University I spent time as a tutor, teaching assistant and volunteer lab assistant. It is extremely fulfilling to help someone finally understand a concept that they have struggled with for weeks or to help someone raise their grade from a failing grade to passing! Personally, I had never taken a single chemistry course until I entered college and chemistry never came naturally to me. I believe that this gives me an advantage as a tutor because I really focus on the learning process and I understand that some students need extra practice to solidify a concept in their mind.

My ultimate goal is to help you succeed in your course without my help. Throughout my lessons I try to instill the framework and process required to solve a large set of similar problems, rather than giving you the answer for a singular problem." less...
