"My name is Lewis. I’m a graduate from University of California Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I bring years of experience working with students of varying ages and backgrounds. I consider reading, writing, and language arts to be my strong suit, but I can help with a variety of subjects. Learning is something I enjoy, which is why I’m interested in teaching. The teacher and learner are both part of a dialogue, enhancing one another’s understanding of a subject.

My first experience with teaching began in my senior year of high school in an ROP Child Psychology class. In addition to studying various approaches to teaching, I was a Teacher Assistant in both 1st and 5th grade classrooms. My responsibilities included working one-on-one with students having trouble, grading papers, leading class discussions, and teaching units. In college I've worked with others in various ways, including editing papers and helping review for tests.

My main hobby and one of my biggest strengths is reading. Books are a consistent source of knowledge and entertainment. Fantasy and philosophy are my favorite, but I find myself reading a variety of genres and writers. I most recently finished the 15 book The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I’m also a fairly quick reader. I once read War and Peace in 5 weeks for a literature class.
