I completed my Master's Degree in Reading from the University of Virginia in 2006. At that time I began tutoring students with severe reading difficulties. Children struggle to read for a multitude of reasons and factors. I am experienced with the latest testing methods that indicate the areas of strengths and weaknesses for a student and plan instruction to address weaknesses.
I am certified to teach the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory method for students with reading difficulties. This is an evidence based method that addresses weakness in decoding and spelling words. Using this method, I teach students to breakdown words and understand how and why letters and words sound the way they do. Using multiple senses, students can understand the rues of English and become successful at reading." less...
