"My name is Joseph. I'm a graduate from Williams College and the University of Oxford. I am very grateful to be able to share my passions with my students on Wyzant. As a Comparative Literature major in undergrad, I spent a lot of time reading and writing in Spanish, French and English. Later picking up Levantine Arabic living in the Middle East, I am happy to teach you in any of these languages. Whether you want help with an English essay, explanation of a difficult concept in Spanish grammar, or someone to discuss Balzac with in French, I am there to help. With a master's in Social Anthropology, I am also happy to tutor in that field or related areas: social sciences, history, politics and some areas of philosophy.
I have a passion for teaching and have taught in (almost) every place imaginable: a high school, Guatemalan villages, one county jail, Paris, the University of Oxford and now Wyzant. I value teaching as a way to connect with people and similarly enjoy sharing knowledge with everyone of my students, no matter their interests or background.
As an incoming law student, I also tutor LSAT. Obtaining a 176 on my first attempt on the test, a score that puts me in the 99th percentile for all of those taking the test, I am well equipped to help you do your best on the LSAT.
Finally, in addition to helping you with any essays you might have for English class, I am happy to help you with essays for college admissions or scholarships essays. As someone who has been the recipient of several prestigious fellowships, I know how to help you craft a compelling personal statement. I also do interview preparation for students who want to perform their best in job, graduate or professional school interviews.
I always welcome messages from students. Even if you decide you would be better served by working with another tutor, please feel free to reach out; hearing what students are looking for helps me become a better tutor!" less...
