"Hi! I'm Nicholas. I received my Bachelor of Science in Applied Math and Physics at Hillsdale College. I completed a Master of Science in Mathematical Modellling and Scientific Computing at the University of Oxford. Currently, I am reading for a research degree in applied mathematics at Oxford University. I've always been amazed by how accurately mathematics describes the real world. A simple equation can describe the motion of planets, the behavior of an electron, or even human markets. I try to incorporate examples like these into lessons because they lend depth to math problems that may seem unimportant. Typically, a tutoring lesson with me begins with an example that motivates the introduction of a concept. After explaining the concept and answering any questions, I like to work through problems to make sure that my student has a firm grasp on the concept.

I have tutored for seven years now. In high school, I tutored younger students in small groups in geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus. In college, I offered private tutoring and worked with small groups in the math help room, where students in any math class could stop by to ask me questions. I also worked as a teaching assistant for courses in Calculus I, II, and III, and Linear Algebra. Recently, I have begun work as an online tutor in advanced mathematics. I love teaching mathematics because it has so many important applications in the real world.

On Wyzant, I tutor primarily undergraduate mathematics and physics. On the math side, I've completed coursework in Analysis, Algebra, Statistics, Probability, and more. In physics, I'm familiar with Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, and Electricity and Magnetism. In any of these subjects, I'm happy to help you to develop problem-solving skills, to learn proper form for writing rigorous proofs, or to revisit difficult concepts with a more engaging lecture. Please feel free to reach out to schedule a meeting, or to let me know any other questions you might have for me!" less...
