"Hello! I'm Joon (they/them) and I've been working as a professional software engineer for the past five years at a startup in Boston and then at Amazon Manga. I received my BS in Computer Science at MIT in 2020. I'm currently taking a sabbatical from professional software development to pursue a personal project that intersects software, music, and video games!

I really love to teach and have taught computer science and math to students in classroom settings for summer programs as well as one-on-one tutoring sessions. I've previously taught both middle schoolers as well as adults. My love for pedagogy started in high school when I made math videos on Youtube, similar to Khan Academy. Two of my greatest strengths in teaching are 1) patience and 2) being able to break down concepts step-by-step, so that concepts that were previously confusing become intuitive. I believe that true understanding comes not from memorization but building up concepts from first principles.
