"I graduated from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School in the Class of 2025 and am currently studying business at El Camino College with plans to transfer to UCLA. I’ve always taken school seriously, and that carries into how I work with students. I’m also CPR and First Aid certified and have been a competitive swimmer for 14 years, which has given me patience, discipline, and experience teaching younger kids in the water. I am currently working as a lifeguard as well.
I’ve been tutoring for about two years and have always worked one-on-one with students from 3rd grade through high school. I’ve supported a total of seven students in my tutoring career in reading, writing, math, and science. I see students ages 8, 11, 12, 14, and 15 grow through our sessions. I love helping kids feel more capable in their schoolwork and skills. With reading, I focus on sounding out letters of words and teaching letter-sound patterns like “ai,” “oa,” “sh,” “ch,” and “ing,” which gives younger learners a clear structure, then once that is mastered, they would learn to blend everything together to create words. When I help with writing, I teach students how to outline, organize their ideas, and understand what every type of essay needs. Once structure is mastered, everything else is a breeze. For math, I start by identifying each student’s strengths and weaknesses, then model problems step-by-step, and give them guided practice with plenty of problems until they’re confident enough to move forward to the next lesson. In all of my academic tutoring, my goal is to convert everyone’s weaknesses into strengths, then get them ahead as much as possible. I also teach swim lessons and have worked with kids ages 5–9. My approach is to make the water feel safe and fun first, then build strong fundamentals like kicking and basic freestyle for younger swimmers.
Across both academics and swimming, I have gotten great feedback from past clients. Seeing students build confidence and succeed is my biggest goal." less...
