"Hi! I'm Caroline. I am a recent graduate with a degree in environmental science and policy. I spent the last two years of my college career tutoring mostly low-income and minority elementary school kids in English and mathematics. I also worked with my college's community outreach center to get special science lessons weekly for the 5th grade class. I created and followed through with lesson plans focusing in physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering.

My tutoring job was focused on helping children through their assigned homework/other practice work such as packets, worksheets, flash cards, and other educational games. I worked in a classroom of 15-20 students and would work with 1-3 students at a time, all under the supervision of a teacher who would be passing out the work. I worked with 4th and 5th grade students for a brief time, but focused more of my tutoring career in 1st and 2nd grade education.

I want to build confidence in my students and help them feel ready to take on academic challenges. I understand that elementary education is really hard and being behind in grade levels or not grasping concepts immediately can feel really daunting. I believe that a great tutor can not only change an outlook on education, but be a positive role model and someone students can trust and feel comfortable with. In my own experience, I have never felt happier than when a student is excited to see me and feels ready to tackle work with me.
