"Hi, I’m Laura! I graduated from Boston University with a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Computer Engineering. I’m now pursuing my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University. Tutoring has been an essential part of my own education journey. Starting in high school, I volunteered to tutor low-income middle school students in cello lessons both one-on-one and in small groups. I enjoyed this so much that in college I became a teaching assistant as soon as I could. I spent 2.5 years tutoring a Probably, Statistics, and Data Science class. The evenings spent with these kids were so much fun. The kids showing up to my office hours truly wanted to learn and succeed in the class. And I thoroughly enjoyed helping them succeed and getting to know them. Being a trusted problem solver is what meant the most to me. This sessions were two hours and they would vary based on who showed up. Often it was one-on-ones, small groups of 2-5, or even as many as 30 students at once asking questions about a problem.
