"I am Chidalu, a second-year student at the CUNY School of Medicine at the City College of New York. With a great passion for mathematical sciences, I stand solid and have acquired great academic standing in courses such as algebra, Geometry, and calculus, doing exceptionally well in each of them. I possess the ability to tackle complex equations and break them down articulately with maximum efficiency, and because of my talents, I was usually the first point of contact for my peers who had challenges. I have never been a stranger to tutoring, not only in mathematics, but also in other STEM classes such as Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics, as I mentioned earlier, a key point of reference for my peers who had challenges with these courses, organizing study groups to tackle problems collaboratively. My coursework which include these STEM classes reflect my high proficiency in mathematical thinking and problem-solving
Over the past year, I have put my proficiency in these subjects to good use, tutoring high school students privately, helping them navigate topics such as Algebra I and II, Geometry, and foundational science concepts. I am flexible with teaching settings, depending on what my students prefer. My teaching approach is always centered around the students, getting to know them well enough to understand the learning strategies that best suits them. My lectures consist of breaking down the key components of the concepts, tackling problems collaboratively, and testing my students’ understanding by giving in-class practice problems. I am a big self-critic, and I evaluate myself purely based on the performance of my students in these subjects at their respective schools, and I am happy to say that nine times out of ten, my students’ performance on tests and exams improved drastically after I began tutoring them." less...
