"My name is Gus, and I am a freshman at the University of Nevada, Reno pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I started attending community college in middle school, so I have vast experience with navigating college courses and collaborating with students of all ages. I currently have an overall college GPA of 3.897. I graduated high school in May of 2023 with an Advanced Honors Diploma and a 5.123 GPA. Throughout my academic career, I have taken many AP and honors courses, particularly in social studies and mathematics. As for testing, my ACT composite is 35 (including a perfect score on the English section), and I am also a National Merit Scholar (overall score 1440, selection index 219).

While I have never been a tutor professionally, I love to help people, and learning is one of my hobbies. I would consider writing, both academic and narrative, to be my specialty. In terms of experience, I used to be a volunteer beta reader for a group of independent authors, but as of late I have only been able to proofread/edit for friends and classmates. I think that a major problem with our school system is that reading and writing have been turned into busywork rather than teaching kids about why these subjects are useful and maybe even enjoyable. As someone who greatly enjoys writing, I want to help change that by encouraging people to find purpose in and be proud of their writing.
