"Hi! My name is C.J. and I am excited to work with you. I graduated from The Evergreen State College with a BA in Liberal Arts and and emphasis on American and International studies including history, literature, art and education. I am a TSPC licensed substitute teacher in the state of Oregon and have 6 years of experience engaging with and teaching young students. My interest in education goes way back and I studied educational theory and alternative education approaches in my undergraduate program. My career took another path and it was not until I spent 5 years working with kids as a Volunteer at OMSI in the Science Playground that I shifted towards teaching and tutoring.

In 2024 I started working full time as a guest teacher in Oregon Schools, with a focus on Elementary and Middle School education. Through this work I have had the opportunity to educate a broad and diverse range of students, each with unique strengths, needs and challenges. My educational approach is to meet students where they are, find out what they enjoy and build off of their interests to achieve educational goals.

My work as a guest teacher has allowed me to gain experience in a wide array of settings and to teach a variety of curriculum. In addition to managing classrooms I have also worked 1 on 1 with students on individual education plans. I I also have experience worked with special needs students including special education classrooms and programs. I have also taught in Dual Language English/Spanish classrooms. Though not fluent in Spanish I have a large vocabulary and continue to improve my Spanish language skills.
