"My name is Rachel, and I am a full-time Mathematics student, tutor, and high school math teacher. When I’m not in the classroom or working with students, you’ll usually find me studying Pure Mathematics.
I have nearly ten years of experience tutoring a wide range of math, science, and exam preparation subjects. Each week, I also volunteer five hours tutoring groups of students in College Algebra and Calculus. My areas of expertise include Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus (with or without AP), Calculus AB and BC, College Algebra, Logic, Calculus I through III, Statistics, and Number Theory. I also provide exam preparation support for a variety of standardized tests, including the ACT, SAT, SSAT, PSAT, ISEE, HSPT, SCAT, SHSAT, AP exams, CBEST, CSET Math, GRE (including the subject test in mathematics), FSA, STAAR, EOC, CAAs, CAASPP, and more.
My tutoring approach is centered around the scaffolding method, which helps students build skills and confidence step by step rather than overwhelming them with difficult problem sets from the start. I focus on developing conceptual understanding, encouraging critical thinking, and using practice examples that increase in difficulty to promote independence. I also enjoy working with students of all abilities and take pride in creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment. With extensive experience supporting students who face neurodiverse challenges such as ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia, I recognize the unique strengths each learner brings. My approach emphasizes patience, structure, and flexibility to keep students engaged, build focus, and develop strategies that support their individual learning styles.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions about my background or to discuss how I can best support your student’s learning. I look forward to hearing from you and helping them achieve their goals!" less...
