"Hi! I'm Eric! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatrical Lighting Design from Cal State Fullerton. I have two years experience as a tutor in the San Dieguito Union High School District. I mostly tutored math but I also worked in two different AVID classes as well as a READ 180 class. I worked with students individually and in small groups and really enjoyed the different challenges of each. I prefer working with students one-on-one because it provides us the opportunity to get to the heart of the student's struggles and figure out how to help them understand the material better. I know my strengths and weaknesses as a tutor well. I know the subjects I excelled at in school and the ones I struggled with and why. This helps me tailor my tutoring approach to each student to help them in a way that will make them feel more confident about their understanding of the material.

Next time a similar problem comes up, you will not know how to answer it because you were given the answer without understanding how to get there. The most rewarding part of being a tutor is helping the student understand the concepts of the problem and helping them work out the answer themselves. This way, they will know how to find the answer the next time a similar problem comes up.

As a tutor, my goal is to help students break down the complicated equations into simpler parts that they do understand to help them figure out what they do not understand. Once they understand and grasp the individual parts, they can put them together to figure out the sum" less...
