"My name is Zach and I have tutored and taught in various capacities over the last fifteen years. In 2011, I graduated from the George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts and a double major of Mathematics and English. One year later, I earned a TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification from Oxford Seminars. My studies prepared me well for the GRE, on which I scored a 166 on the Verbal Reasoning Section (97th percentile), a 167 on the Quantitative Reasoning Section (93rd percentile), and a 5.5 on the Analytical Writing Section (98th percentile). This experience also prepared me well to tutor similar exams, such as the SAT and ACT.
I started tutoring neighborhood kids in Math while I was still in high school, and continued tutoring middle school kids in Washington, DC in Math while in college. After college I also tutored Math, Reading, and Writing in a NYC elementary and middle school. From 2013 until 2015, I served in the Peace Corps in Ecuador, where I taught English to students of all levels; I also taught Art, Music, and Physical Education at the elementary and high school levels. Later, when living in Mexico, I taught a GRE Prep Course and also tutored various individual students in English.
For four years, I was a full time high school Math teacher, during the first two years of which I earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of Mississippi through the Mississippi Teacher Corps. Now, I work as a STEM Instructor in an alternative career development and education program, though I still have the great fortune of working with students.
I love helping students realize their full potential, empowering them to be able to teach themselves. I'm excited to work with students of all ages and abilities. I look forward to getting to know you and want to earn your trust; please don't hire me feeling any pressure, whatsoever. Tutoring is a collaborative experience, and I look forward to taking on whatever subject you need help with together." less...
