"Hello Students! I love teaching. It has been a lifelong passion and calling for me. I am naturally gifted as a teacher and have taught in the public school system for more than 20 years. I love it because I am helping children and adults learn and grow and know their value.

I know how to break down the steps and use concrete models to explain the more complex concepts. I make it fun too. I have taught mostly in an elementary school all grade levels and second and fourth grade most recently. I understand how to teach reading so that students feel successful in what they are doing well and I can help them learn more strategies to get stronger. I believe in spending a lot of time practicing, and I can monitor progress well because I have excellent understanding of the reading process as well as the Foundational skills necessary to read better.

I had a hard time learning how to read when I was little. I did not comprehend what I read and did not know how to really think about what I was reading. I thought I was dumb. And I understand and can relate to the struggle of reading. Because of this struggle, I have learned how to break down the strategies to help children read and write. My love and enthusiasm for both reading and writing help children find the joy themselves.

As a classroom teacher for many years, I have found many ways to connect with children. If one way does not really work for an individual, I think of other ways. I am very creative. My plan is always to start by getting to know an individual as well as share more about me so that we are both comfortable.
