"The phrase "Every grain of rice wasted in this life will starve in the next" conveys a powerful message about the need to value our resources and recognize the labor that goes into our sustenance. I’m Diana, an Epidemiologist with a Master’s in Public Health. To me, rice represents education—an essential resource often overlooked. Each grain, like a lesson learned, has the power to nourish the mind and uplift communities. Yet, both rice and education can fall victim to neglect, requiring conscious effort to nurture them fully.
My life was built on resilience and struggle. I come from a family of refugees who fled civil war, facing fear and uncertainty as they sought safety in America. Their challenges persisted after arriving; they had to navigate cultural differences, language barriers, and the scars of their past. Nevertheless, my family worked tirelessly to create opportunities for my brother and me—opportunities denied to them due to circumstances beyond their control. Their sacrifices instilled in me a deep appreciation for education, teaching me that knowledge serves as a transformative tool for change, not merely a privilege.
Inspired by my family’s legacy, I am committed to empowering my students to overcome their own challenges. My teaching emphasizes hands-on learning, adapted to meet the diverse needs of each individual. I strive to create an environment where students feel seen, heard, and supported, recognizing the myriad barriers they face—be it socioeconomic hardships, personal struggles, or systemic inequalities. My goal is not just to educate, but to inspire, equipping my students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
