"I am a certified high school mathematics teacher who has taught everything from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus in Maryland. Currently, I am a Mathematics Numeracy Coach for my school district where I have helped grow teachers and students from 14% proficiency on Algebra 1 PARCC to over 53% proficiency in less than one school year. While teaching, more than 60% of my students scored a 4 or 5 on the Algebra 2 PARCC. I was able to make these gains because I consistently sought the challenge of teaching and inspiring lower-achieving students and turning them into critical, higher-order thinking lifelong learners.

I have been teaching for almost 20 years and tutoring for more than 25 years and I spend much of my daily life trying to find the simplest ways to teach difficult mathematical concepts. I have an outstanding command of middle and high school mathematics specifically in developing and implementing curriculum enhancements with a simplified Common Core focus.

I have a degree in mathematics from Spelman College, an Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and a Masters in Adult Education from the University of Maryland University system. Outside of my educational qualifications, I have successfully taught and tutored mathematics for over 20 years. I have been trained by the Southern Regional Education Board and trained new mathematics teachers for one of the largest schools districts in the nation. I have also presented on effective mathematics practices and strategies on both the state and national level.
