"Hi, my name is Cristhian. I have a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Physics and Mathematics, and a PhD in Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering. During my studies at the university as an undergraduate student, I had experiences in tutoring privately, tutoring for a local business, and tutoring at the university’s tutoring center. My experiences ranged from drop-in tutoring sessions, supplemental instruction for professors, to standardized test preparation. I have tutored in subjects such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, freshman/sophomore level calculus, classical mechanics and electromagnetism. I am currently an engineer in the automotive industry and I like to work on math and physics problems from my university textbooks in my spare time. Tutoring will help me keep the passion I have for the sciences, supplement my critical thinking skills, and give me ideas that I can incorporate into my current job.

I have been described as a person that is patient, knowledgeable, and that I think about problems differently. With the range of difficulty of math and physics problems, I didn't always know the answers immediately. I believe students learned a lot from me as they watched me think through a problem on the spot while working on paper or on the whiteboard. I would then have the student work on similar problems to make sure the concept was understood. For problems that I know the immediate answer to, I try to get the student to think independently about the first principles and determine which equation to start with.

With the current practice I have on topics I learned in school, I would describe myself as specializing in algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and classical mechanics. All of my tutoring experiences have been in person. I believe the student would benefit the most with in-person sessions. I am of course open to online sessions.
