"I’m Mitchell! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Adolescent Education and a concentration in 7th-12th Mathematics. In addition to a bachelors I have completed my masters in TESOL (teaching English to Second Language Learners). While in college, I realized the classes I appreciated most weren’t necessarily the topics I was most interested in. Rather, it was the professors who made the classes enjoyable. These professors were always engaging and comprehensible when teaching the material in the classroom. They were willing to go the extra mile when asked for clarification and help. This is the type of knowledge I rely on when tutoring in order to make the learning experience enjoyable and productive. I use lesson plans in which I usually introduce the topic in a fun and creative way, then I take time to teach the material directly. Afterwards I make sure students have time to practice the material on their own. Since every students is different lessons will be adjusted based on the students’ individual needs.

I am currently a math teacher in the Central Islip School district where I tutor and teach 7-12th graders. Other than teaching the regular school schedule I also tutor students after school. I have worked with students one-on-one or in groups. I have tutored students in different field of math like Algebra 1, Geometry, Integrated Algebra, SAT Prep, Statistics, Pre-Calculus just to name a few.
