"Hello! I'm Larry, and I'm committed to helping my students succeed. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2023. There, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Developmental Biology. Throughout college, I excelled in my courses, earning a 4.0 GPA.

It was in my second year of college, during the height of the pandemic, that I realized I wanted to be a tutor. I joined Cub Support, a volunteer organization created to help K-12 students during their transition to online learning. Since then, I've continued to tutor online, working with high school and college students in math and science.

It has always been the case that the concepts I know best are the ones I have had in-depth conversations about with my peers and educators. Discussions help to illuminate areas in which students lack understanding and resolve them. As such, I believe that students must be active participants in their education to get the most out of it. I bring this mindset into all of my tutoring sessions, making sure my students are active learners, constantly participating in discussions with me. As I explain concepts or work through problems, I ask students questions to check their understanding. I also encourage them to stop me and ask clarifying questions whenever they feel the need to. My goal is for my students to gain a deep, intuitive understanding of and appreciation for what they are studying, thereby becoming better problem solvers.
