"Hi everyone! My name is Dot P, and I am a tutor who specializes in psychology and biology concepts, writing skills, and study habits. I earned my BA/BS in Psychology and Biology from Rhodes College, earning magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa distinction. In my time at Rhodes, I was a student instructor for two biology courses and also trained new tutors to expand the service at the university. I earned the Peer Tutor of the Year Award as well as the Academic Excellence in Psychology Award my final year of undergrad. I am passionate about empowering students in their education and helping them find confidence in the classroom.
My tutoring experiences has been for both college-aged individuals and preschool/elementary aged students. My roles have varied between one-on-one teaching to full classrooms of students, so I am prepared for various types of learning models. I most recently worked at an inclusive preschool for children with and without autism, where I strengthened my skills in teaching for neurodivergent individuals. I am highly organized and am passionate about making education accessible to all people, so my tutoring services will be tailored to the needs of each and every student.
My teaching style utilizes lots of visual aids and "checks for understanding". I try to make learning as fun as possible, so this is always a goal in my sessions! I often encourage alternative ways to interact with material, whether it be through drawing the concept, matching ideas together, or creating story boards to explain the concept in a more step-by-step manner. I promise to meet you where you are academically; there is never any judgment or criticism for challenges when learning! Helping a student experience a breakthrough with material gives me so much joy, and I am hopeful that I can work with you soon!" less...
