"Hi! I'm Amy! I graduated the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I received a Master's Degree and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge. When I was 9 years old, I moved to California from New York. I was going into 4th grade and felt very unsure about starting a new school and making new friends. As it turned out, my new teacher was an amazing man who gave me the self confidence I needed to excel. It was then I decided that I too would become a grade school teacher. At 16, I worked as a camp counselor and that became my summer job for 7 years until I finished graduate school. I wanted to put my passion to good use by helping children be the best they can be. I want learning to be fun and not a chore, so I make my lessons as hands on as possible, taking into consideration the learning style of each individual child. I love using tips and tricks, manipulatives, rhymes, songs and games to help teach.

As an elementary school teacher for ten years, I have been able to reach a myriad of ages and assess my student's needs. I have learned the best strategies and implement them throughout the curriculum. I have many years of tutoring experience and I love working with students and encourage them to give their very best. In the classroom, I work directly with each student needing additional assistance and also teach using small learning pods. My response to intervention has given students much needed support. I have held myself to a high standard as an educator and have and always will expect the same from my students! I also co-wrote the Discovery Kindergarten curriculum for my school district.
