"Hello, and thank you for visiting my page to learn more about me! I am the Lead Instructor at the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School Science Department, teaching chemistry and physics. I take a lot of pride in helping students learn, and I realize that teaching and preparing young minds for their future is a huge responsibility.
I know that some subjects like chemistry and math are just plain hard, but all students deserve every opportunity to develop a deep appreciation for these subjects because of their importance in our daily lives. I always take great care to truly understand the needs of my students by trying to put myself in their shoes. I never act like an expert who simply dispenses information, and I absolutely never look down on my students for misunderstandings. Patience is essential, and I think I have it in spades.
I specialize in teaching mathematics including calculus, algebra, and statistics as well as chemistry majors courses including organic chemistry and biochemistry. I am fully able to tutor at the university, high school, or middle school level courses. I strongly believe in challenging students by asking them questions throughout the session so that they develop new knowledge based on the knowledge they already have. I do not intend to lecture or simply talk at the student during a session. Active participation by the student is a much more powerful teaching technique, and I strive to keep my students engaged at all times. Guiding a student from misunderstanding and uncertainty to comprehension and deep appreciation is the most rewarding part of my job. I take your education or that of your student very seriously, but I always want learning to be fun and meaningful so the knowledge really resonates.
I have significant experience with a wide range of students, and I would love the opportunity to help you or your student learn chemistry and math. I look forward to hearing from you, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me. Thanks!" less...
