"Hi, I'm Courtney! I graduated from Louisiana State University with a two graduate degrees - a Ph.D in Sociology and a M.A. in Sociology. I have graduate minors in African and African American Studies and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I also have a Master of Public Health degree and two undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Interpersonal Communication Studies. Throughout my academic journey I had wonderful, supportive professors who infused their love for learning into every class.

In the classroom, I welcome curiosity and prioritize time for student's questions. I challenge students to connect concepts to their lived experiences. I typically introduce new material with multiple examples and then guide students through various practice problems. Many students have found this approach effective. Alongside teaching in the traditional classroom environment, I participated in several panels on quantitative research, social science, and health. For 3 years I have supported students from underrepresented backgrounds. We meet regularly to prepare for exams and discuss skills for academic success.

Since many students can feel intimidated by coding and statistical analysis, I frame quantitative problems as accessible and fun! My aim in teaching and tutoring are to: (1) foster intellectual curiosity; and (2) provide opportunities for students to critically engage with their social world.
