"Hi, I'm Sarah! Throughout high school I tutored friends' children in late elementary and middle school. In college I frequently tutored friends in the same or similar classes as mine. Learning is one of my great passions and I love being able to help it along in others. I believe a great teacher who works to the needs of the students and is able to inspire enthusiasm is the most critical part of the process. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is when I've been searching for different ways to explain a concept or technique, and then I see the spark light in the student as one of those ways sticks.
I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology/Geophysics and am currently trying to save for graduate school. I've taken and gotten A's in all the engineering-level university courses in Math, Physics, and Chemistry.
I excelled in high school and university mathematics up to and including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Vector Calculus. I enjoy helping students understand why a formula works, so that they know how and when to use it and don't accidentally use it in the wrong situation.
Physics is my favorite subject, and I can teach High School Physics, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Fluids and Thermodynamics. I can also tutor Chemistry up to a basic university science level. Teaching science is making the magic of the everyday world become understandable and predictable, and it warms my heart. I love helping students pick apart word problems and what they're actually asking, because that's how science questions get asked in the wider world.
Please do contact me with any questions and to schedule a lesson! I'm always willing to learn more, so any suggestions or other resources are welcome." less...
