Hi, my name is Jacob, your new German language tutor! You’re in good hands with me. I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in German Language from Eastern Michigan University. I later went on to become TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certified. In college, I found that regardless of interest level, I always excelled and thrived in classes where the professor was engaging and enthusiastic! That lesson comes along with me to each tutoring session.

Having both worked & studied in Germany, it exposed me to a plethora of opportunities to both teach & learn. Working in Germany in my roles as supervisor and tutor of children taught me how to interact with young learners and gave me experience creating and giving lessons. Additionally, I worked at a high school in Illinois as a paraprofessional for special & general education students. I went to all their classes with them to ensure they got the support they needed to thrive and succeed. During my time in Illinois, I received an academic grant to teach English in Germany for a year between 2023-2024. I was placed in Dresden where I taught in a high school.

I tutor because I love to see the growth in others! It is truly rewarding to know that I can play a part in achieving a student’s learning goals. My approach to tutoring is to accommodate whichever learning style best fits my students. Whether they are didactic (lecture-based), tactile, auditory, visual, analytical, or social learners, my primary goal is to suit each student’s needs so that they can be as successful as possible.
