"Hello, my name is Melody. I am a patient and compassionate tutor who has worked with students of various ages since 2005. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling. I have worked as a behavior therapist and supervisor in private homes, elementary school classrooms, and a homeschool learning center providing behavior and academic support. I work with general education students as well as students with special needs and learning disabilities. I have over ten years of experience providing services as a full-time homeschool teacher, classroom teacher, and tutor.

I have training and experience with special needs and learning disability students. I am Applied Behavior Analysis trained and can provide behavior and academic support to my students with autism. As a reading coach, I work with students who have been diagnosed with dyslexia, are slow readers, or not on grade level by providing structured reading intervention. I have training in several reading programs including Orton Gillingham, Reading Rockets, Pride Reading Program, and Lindamood-Bell.

I believe it is important to build great rapport with my students and their families to allow for a safe and trusting learning environment. I gently guide my students to build confidence in learning and empower them to realize their strengths. My teaching style is structured to accommodate my student's style of learning. Verbal praise and positive reinforcement is used to build my student's confidence with even the smallest accomplishment. I encourage and motivate my students to achieve their full potential and academic goals by using creative and interesting techniques to make learning enjoyable.
