"Howdy, my name is Lynn W. and I obtained a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Hotel-Restaurant Management from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and pursued a career in hotel and restaurant management which enabled me to travel the world. While living in California I first began learning about oenology and wine pairings, offering wine courses, classes and tours. When I graduated from Cal-Poly, I was off to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to work at a resort hotel. St. Croix USVI was next on my list, and I was right in the middle of the M.B.A. program at University of Virgin Islands when Hurricane Hugo hit. Though I was evacuated 7 days after the hurricane, I was able to return to St. Croix later and finish my M.B.A. My next adventure resulted from deciding to teach at Eastern Mediterranean University in Turkish Republic of North Cyprus…another interesting experience. I began my 23 years at Northwestern State University in our Hospitality Management & Tourism program in the College of Science & Technology School of Business.

Throughout my tenure at Northwestern I have taught a variety of classes including Career Development, Catering Management, Entertainment Management, Food & Beverage Management, Law, Social and Business Etiquette, Travel Geography, Facilities Engineering and organized a variety of field trips. Further, I was honored to be a favorite guest speaker on a variety of topics from Service Marketing to Cultures of the World within the small community of Natchitoches, Louisiana and even Duchess of Destiny with the Mardi Gras Krewe of Dionysus. When I was hired at NSU in 1996, one of the stipulations was that I would plan and organize student trips to Europe in each Spring, as it was part of the curriculum. Not only did I plan and organize student tours to Europe a dozen times over the years, but also to Australia/New Zealand, Costa Rica, Machu Picchu, Galapagos and Hawaii!
