"My name is Monica P., I was born and raised in Rome, Italy. I have been married for 25 years and have three fantastic children who are now studying in the university.

During my high school years, which in Italy are five years, I studied the languages of French, Spanish and English. From L'universita degli studi Rome Tre, the Roman university which I attended, I received a bachelor's degree in the Italian language and literature. During these studies I was required to pass competency exams in the Spanish, French and English languages.

After my studies I have worked as a flight attendant for an Italian airline and a principal's assistant in an elementary school. I then moved to Paris where I lived and studied French for one year. Before coming to Philadelphia I lived in Denver, Colorado for eight years, part of which I spent teaching Italian and Spanish at the Italian Institute of Denver. I came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania three years ago with my family. While here, I have held two substitute positions and two full time positions at four different high schools teaching Spanish and Italian. I am now preparing my pedagogical master's degree through an Italian university.

I have a deep love for the country and culture of Italy including the language, the arts, the cooking and the sea. I have a passion to teach and pass on this love for languages and world culture." less...
