"I am a native Tucsonan and have taught for the past decade! I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Occidental College in 2013, and a Masters of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University in 2016. As a graduate employee, I coordinated peer mentoring and tutoring services at my university, and personally conducted test prep services for the entire college. Since then, I have taught hundreds of students preparing for the GRE - as well as the SAT, ACT, GED and ASVAB - in 1:1 and class settings. Furthermore, I began graduate admissions counseling at this time, and am skilled in providing start-to-finish support through the process of applying to college at all levels: college searches, resume/CV/personal statement construction, FAFSA, seeking recommendations, interview prep, etc.
I returned to Tucson to teach high school math and English from 2016-2021. In addition to my classroom teaching role, I served as a college and career counselor and interventionist. Accordingly, I have an extensive background identifying individual students' learning needs and creating strategic plans to intervene and redirect learners' trajectories.
I believe that each learner possesses everything required to achieve success, and that as an effective tutor I am capable of identifying students’ specific sets of skills and needs in order to support them in reaching personal goals. This process involves strong relationship-building, strategic differentiation, instilling confidence in students' abilities, creating feelings of safety, patience, and the ability to teach from the student’s cognitive perspective - not my own - in order to make the material at hand wholly and sustainably grasp-able.
I look forward to connecting with you and/or your learner to discuss how I can support your journey! Please reach out to me today to begin creating a personalized plan for success, whatever your learning needs may be!" less...
