"Welcome! I’m Todd, your experienced ESL tutor. I began my tutoring journey over 15 years ago while living abroad. After completing my TEFL certification, I taught English in language schools and corporate offices in China for several years before returning to the U.S. and transitioning to online tutoring. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with adult ESL learners from around the world, including India, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. Each student brings a unique perspective, and I love helping them find their voice in English.

I’ve successfully guided students to higher scores on the IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, and CELPIP exams. Beyond test preparation, I specialize in helping learners overcome common grammar challenges, including prepositions, verb tenses, word nuance, and sentence rhythm. Many students struggle with these aspects, and even native speakers, including teachers, often find them tricky to explain clearly. My goal isn’t just to show you what to say to sound fluent; it’s to help you understand how English works and why certain structures make sense, so you can communicate with clarity and confidence.

In our lessons, I provide patience, clarity, engagement, and support. I create a space where you feel comfortable asking questions and expressing yourself. My teaching blends focused practice on vocabulary and grammar (Direct Method) with real-life discussion practice (Communicative Language Teaching), so you can use English naturally. Whether you prefer a structured, grammar-focused approach or a more conversational one, I adapt lessons to fit your goals and learning style, and I’ll be there to encourage you every step of the way.
