"I'm John! I currently work as a music producer and teacher out of my home studio. I currently compose and mix music for video games, tv shows, and local bands! I love music in all forms, but my "wheelhouse" definitely centers around rock music.
I have been playing electric guitar and bass guitar and singing in a recording studio environment for 15 years! I am very experienced with the fundamentals of music, such as rhythm and harmony, and how they relate to musical instruments and audio equipment. I am able to create a family-friendly and fun environment, that helps musicians lose the nerves and the shyness and focus on the creative and fun parts of playing music. I have been in several bands, and understand playing with others, and also managing talent. I teach my students to see music not just as "guitar lessons," but to see music as a trade that has several different skills involved, and that they are taking "music" lessons. I believe I am able to give my students a perspective on music that lets them see the big picture, and make a real how-to plan to go for their music dreams. Whether you want to be a rock star one day, a famous producer, a successful modern musician, or just want to have more fun and enjoy music, my mission is to hear you out and then make the best plan to get you there!
I have a master's in sociology from the University of Houston and in grad school I was a TA who taught sociological research methods. I am experienced with listening to people's ideas, plans, and ambitions, and assisting them in the how-to process of making that dream a reality. I am also just very good with numbers, writing, and organization, which means you will be getting trustworthy and high quality study materials!" less...
