"I coach writers at the advanced high school, undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels, and I absolutely love my work! Application essays, M.A. / Ph.D. dissertations, and creative writing are among my specialties.
I prefer to work with a small number of writers so that I can offer whatever amount of time and attention is required, from multiple online meetings / offline written responses per week, or on an “as needed” basis.
My style is in-depth and highly personalized: if a project deals extensively with a specific work of fiction (a novel, for example), or non-fiction (such as a research article), I like to read (or re-read) it to get fully up to speed.
I have over 15 years experience as a college Composition and English Literature professor, and hold degrees from Tufts University, Boston College, and University of Wisconsin - Madison.
While earning my M.A. and Ph.D. degrees, I designed and taught Composition courses and taught a wide range of American and English Literature courses. I also worked with individual undergraduate and graduate students in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences fields as an instructor at the University of Wisconsin - Madison Writing Center. After receiving my Ph.D., I taught Composition and Public Speaking as a Professor of English at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Before starting graduate school, I worked as an Editorial Assistant at the publishing firm Little, Brown and Company, and tutored high school students at several Boston area independent schools. More recently, I have been developing my career as a professional writer, publishing essays and poems in numerous journals.
