"I am a Ph.D. in theoretical physics and I have tutored mathematics and physics for the past ten years. I have worked with students from grade school to college with diverse ethnic backgrounds and academic goals. The subjects I tutored most are AP Physics and AP Calculus, as both are the culmination of high school science education and present quite a challenge even to the best of students. Meanwhile I have also tutored a lot of pre-calculus, algebra, trigonometry and geometry classes, and these students usually stick with me all the way to AP level and their transition are mostly smooth and successful, as all science courses are built upon previous foundations. I love to focus on problem solving skills, and help students crystallize the concepts in the context of real-world problems, because I firmly believe that science is for players instead of spectators, and only problem solvers really go depth of concepts and theories as well as performers in exams, especially standardized exams. Though most of my students are high schoolers, I do enjoy teaching earlier levels as I believe the art of teaching manifests more prominently in those earlier stages of intellect development, when love of science is easier preached and nurtured, the love that makes later education delight and enlightenment instead of burden. That offers me the highest sense of achievement!

I have taught college math and physics, not only to college students but also to ambitious high schoolers. Plenty of my former students still resort to my tutoring after they go to universities, including Harvard, Stanford and Duke, etc. I am able to tutor all undergraduate math and physics courses and a lot of graduate courses as well.

As a former national math Olympiad winner, I take special pleasure coaching math and physics competitions of all levels. As someone who was born into an intellectual family, I can attest to all aspiring students and their parents, that early tutelage from a real expert would make a decisive difference." less...
