"Hi! I'm Lucy, and I’d love to help you reach your goals! My tutoring focus areas are college-level biology and chemistry (including AP biology and AP chemistry), genetics, and plant sciences. I earned my PhD in Plant Biology, a BS in Genetics, and a minor in chemistry and am a career researcher. As a scientist and educator, I’ve trained middle schoolers to postdocs in the classroom and in the lab for over 20 years. Many have gone on to a variety of successful careers in medicine and STEM.

My goal is to help you reach your goals! By focusing on and tailoring to your specific needs and goals, I can help you maximize your efforts and develop successful learning and test-taking strategies. I’ll help you build a strong foundation in scientific fundamentals, and boost your ability and confidence. I relish your "aha!" moments as concepts connect. My teaching style is oriented toward application of concepts, asking questions to help you build on what you already understand, and resolve where things are fuzzy. I’m new to the Wyzant platform, but not new to mentoring students. I’ve trained high school lab interns, helped teach college virology and plant physiology, taught general plant biology labs, led class sessions and developed materials, and devoted extra one-on-one time to help struggling students. For over a decade I've guest-taught college- and graduate-level biology course topics as an adjunct professor, and taught STEM programs for middle and elementary schoolers.
