"I hold a PhD in Engineering, and over many years I have pursued research at the intersection of physics, mathematics, and environmental science, often using MATLAB and advanced data analysis methods. As a NASA-funded researcher, I’ve worked with satellite and in-situ environmental datasets, modeling climate and water systems in the Great Lakes and polar regions. Because of this broad technical grounding, I enjoy helping students connect abstract theory to real-world science problems — not just solving equations, but understanding why those equations matter.
I have been tutoring and mentoring students one-on-one for over eight years, guiding learners at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. My experience ranges from helping students understand core physics and mathematics, to advising on independent research projects, to supporting thesis work. In particular, I’ve worked with students in the Lumiere Research Scholar Program, helping them carry out 12-week research projects under my mentorship. Over ten of these students went on to attend top-tier colleges and graduate programs. In these settings, I’ve had the pleasure of advising students on research topic selection, experimental or computational design, data analysis, and the presentation or writing of results.
My teaching and mentoring style is rooted in empathy, clarity, and adaptation: I strive to understand each student’s background, strengths, and learning style, and to present explanations that emphasize intuition and application over rote memorization. Whether we’re debugging MATLAB code, exploring physical models, or interpreting data trends, my aim is to help you build confidence in your own understanding — so you can tackle new challenges independently. If you're preparing for an exam, tackling a research project, or simply building your foundational skills, I’m here to help you learn deeply, not superficially." less...
