"I've been passionate about teaching since I was a child, relishing at any chance I could get to teach my fellow classmates. This led to impromptu and more formal tutoring, especially in high school, where I helped other students work through their Calculus and Physics classes.
I received my B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Cornell, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Stanford, respectively. There, I was a teaching assistant for Calculus, Thermodynamics, 2nd year fluid mechanics, and Turbulence. I had the privilege to teach lectures and recitations, and hold office hours with students.
I have always felt teaching/learning is a two-way street. I delight in describing technical contents in ways that my students can understand. However, this requires careful listening and empathy. It takes patience to understand what each student's needs are. Sometimes that is purely in the realm of not understanding a subject. However, more often it bleads into anxiety related to breaking a problem into manageable pieces, stamina to complete a long problem, or built up discouragement stemming from lack of reinforcement and kindness from previous teachers.
I want each of my students to succeed, be confident in their skills, and most importantly, have fun! Learning was never meant to be wrote or boring. It's meant to be inspiring. My goal is to connect with students where they are at and bring in examples they will be excited about.
If you or your child is interested in working with me, please reach out and let's talk!" less...
